The Nordic Youth Panel
In autumn 2024, a new Nordic collaboration took shape. In partnership with the Nordic Associations of Adolescent Medicine and Health, the Danish Association of Youth Panels initiated the establishment of a Nordic Youth Panel. The primary goal of this initiative is to amplify the voices of young people across the Nordic countries in shaping future health-related decisions.

The Nordic Youth Panel launched in September with a series of online meetings. Initial discussions focused on the challenges young patients face within the Nordic healthcare systems and potential solutions to address these issues. Alongside the youth members, representatives from the Nordic Associations of Adolescent Medicine and Health participated in the meetings to help bridge the gap between the perspectives of young people and clinical practice.
The members of the Nordic Youth Panel gathered in person for the first time during the 23rd IAAH European Regional Conference in Copenhagen. During the event, the video below was recorded, featuring several members discussing the panel, their motivations, and their expectations.
Currently, the Nordic Youth Panel comprises 15 young individuals aged 17–24 from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland. These members represent hospital-based youth panels, health research advisory groups, or other youth organizations advocating for the rights of young people with chronic illnesses and disabilities.
If you would like to learn more about the Nordic Youth Panel, please contact the secretariat of the Danish Association of Youth Panels, which provides administrative support.
The project ‘The Nordic Youth Panel: Building a strong youth voice in future decisions on health and healthcare’ has received funding from the Nordic Council of Ministers’ funding programme Norden 0-30.
